Summary:

Assists and supports the assigned campus and Parent Involvement Department in an effort to enhance and increase parent involvement, student recruitment, and enrollment.  Assists and supports school wide-parenting initiatives and activities to encourage parents/guardians to become positive, active participants in the education of their children.

  8. Ability to perform duties remotely and/or on a flex schedule, upon approval by superintendent, in response to pandemics, natural disasters, catastrophic events, etc. and will be subject to virtual/distance learning policies and procedures as set forth in employee handbook.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Parent and Community Relations

  1. Assist in serving as a link between school and home, establish trusting relationships and welcoming environment, and serve as a point of contact for families.
  2. Collaborates with Parent Involvement Department Coordinator to establish and administer programs for targeting, recruitment, and retention of students for the campus.
  3. Work directly with the Campus Principal to support parent outreach efforts that will impact student achievement; assist with Title I, Part A Parental Involvement requirements.
  4. Provide assistance to parents and guardians in navigating the school system, assist with awareness of available campus, district, and community social services and their attainment.
  5. As directed, utilize appropriate information management systems (SchoolAdmin) and records essential to attain goals.
  6. Assist to identify student and parent needs, work closely with school staff to coordinate services for students and families and provide community referrals to families, as needed.
  7. Assist with all campus activities including parent and family involvement activities, community involvement committees, etc.
  8. Assist with the development and dissemination of school newsletters, correspondence, videos, social media platforms, surveys, etc.
  9. Relay parent concerns and input regarding their children’s educational needs to principal and coordinator.
  10. May assist campus administrator to identify students with attendance issues and other needs as requested.
  11. Provide interpreter services for bilingual parents, guardians, and staff during parent-teacher conferences, school meetings, and activities.
  12. Assist in providing outreach materials for distribution in language(s) of parents and guardians; ensure multilingual signs, bulletin boards, and other displays are visible at school entrance/lobby to welcome all parents and provide information.
  13. As directed, conduct outreach activities, surveys, and coordinate parent involvement opportunities.
  14. Develop ongoing relationships with community-based and local faith-based organizations; articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support.
  15. Attend appropriate parent and family engagement trainings and meetings, Parent Teacher Association and other support meetings, and relevant meetings within the community, as assigned.
  16. Provide support in recruiting and retaining parent/guardian volunteers. Assist in collecting parent/guardian volunteer packets and submit to the human resources department on a timely basis for volunteer approval.
  17. Maintain confidentiality of student, parent, and employee personal information.
  18. May perform home visits as directed.

  1. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  2. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
  3. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.

Computer, telephone, printer, copier, fax machine, calculator and other standard office equipment and peripherals.

 

Working Conditions:

 

Occasional absences are understood but regular attendance is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, kneel/squat, bend/stoop, push/pull, twist and walk.  Repetitive had motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse is required with occasional reaching. The employee must occasionally do light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).  Occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds and over); may be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchair or assist with positioning of students with disabilities. Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise; regular districtwide travel to students’ homes and occasional statewide travel.  Employee must work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress. Employee may work prolonged or irregular hours.
