Summary:
Under general supervision of the Child Nutrition Program Manager to perform a wide variety of secretarial and routine administrative duties in support of the Child Nutrition Department; assist in the coordination, planning, organization, and monitoring of the food service operations and nutritional programs, and to provide general information and assistance to the public.
Qualifications/Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
- One-year clerical experience in food service operations preferred

- Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills.
- Effective organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow written instructions and ability to answer a multi-line phone system.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.
- Must be eligible to obtain a manager’s food handler's card and/or general food handler’s card.
- Ability to perform duties on a flex schedule, upon approval by superintendent, in response to pandemics, natural
disasters, catastrophic events, etc.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Utilize the district’s online mealtime system for each meal service and ensure information is properly input and documented.
- May assist in the preparation of food as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of meals served and left-over food products.
- Keep record of daily attendance and enrollment for each campus.
- Update and maintain a variety of records and reports to include daily campus reports.
- Must become knowledgeable with student allergy alerts and must communicate with parents for verification to ensure allergy forms are completed. Will assist in substitution meals for those students.
- Maintain calendars, schedules, meetings, and various events for the CNP Department.
- Assist CNP Manager in responding to concerns and request for information.
- Keep current on all laws, rules, and regulations, and district policies.
- Assist in the selection and ordering of food and supplies and maintain appropriate records for such.
- Assist in the preparation of menus in accordance with nutritional requirements.
- Assist in assuring efficient and sanitary practices in food preparation and serving.
- Assist in the preparation of reports for mealtime system, student coding, student allergy forms, and audits etc. as needed in accordance with specified deadlines.
- Monitor operation of equipment, reporting apparent unsafe or unsanitary conditions to the manager immediately upon discovery.
- Maintain office supplies for CNP department and submit orders as needed to District CNP Office Clerk.
- Reviews Food Production Records for compliance purposes and maintains and organizes all files.
- Helps monitor HACCP program.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Attend in-service training as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Equipment Used:
Computer, telephone, printer, copier, fax machine, calculator and other standard office equipment and peripherals. District vehicle. Standard large and small kitchen equipment and tools including electric slicer, mixer, pressure steamer, deep-fat fryer, sharp cutting tools, stove, oven, dishwasher, and food/utility cart, etc.
Working Conditions:
Occasional absences are understood but regular attendance and punctuality is required. Frequent district wide travel is required. Employee may work prolonged or irregular hours. While performing the duties of this job, continual walking, frequent climbing (ladder), grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, overhead reaching, prolonged standing, frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stoop, pushing/pulling, and twisting is necessary. The employee must occasionally do lifting and carrying (15-44 lbs.). Work inside in commercial kitchen environment; exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, extreme humidity, noise, vibration, microwaves, biological hazards (bacteria, mold, fungi), chemical hazards (fumes, vapors, gases), electrical hazards; work with hands in water; work around machinery with moving parts; work on slippery surfaces. Employee must work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress.
